Tractica, in partnership with its sister organization TU-Automotive, fielded a survey to automotive industry participants and technology providers in December 2018. The goal was to better understand how the different sectors of the automotive ecosystem view the industry’s priorities as it continues to develop connected and autonomous vehicles.
Executive summary of Tractica's 'Connected & Autonomous Vehicles Survey'
A holistic view of the priorities from the complete survey base shows cybersecurity threats as the leading priority for the industry, followed closely by the continued development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). However, priorities shift depending on which segment of the automotive ecosystem is responding. For example, automakers consider the continued development of ADAS as their top priority while technology providers consider connected services and cybersecurity issues as their top priorities. Various topics were also rated differently in different world regions.
This Tractica and TU-Automotive survey report explores how automotive industry participants and technology providers view priorities related to connected and autonomous vehicles. Respondents were presented with a list of 40 topics/initiatives associated with the automotive industry and were asked to assign an importance score to each based on its priority to their role and their company. Automotive industry participants and technology providers rated topics such as automotive cybersecurity issues, ADAS, vehicle-to-vehicle communications and connected car services, among others.
